As a nonprofit theater dedicated to connecting people in our diverse communities through bold, resonant theater, we rely on the generosity of donors to support our award-winning productions as well as our innovative educational and community engagement programs.  Ticket sales only cover 40% of our costs, making our supporters crucial to delivering great work to our stage. We can’t do it without you.

With longstanding ties to Sierra Madre and the greater San Gabriel Valley, we remain committed to engaging a diverse audience and inspiring the next generation of artists and theater lovers.

The Sierra Madre Playhouse is a non-profit public benefit organization as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, contributions to which may be tax-deductible.

Stories @ The Playhouse
If you made a reservation for our Stories @ The Playhouse series events, please donate as part of your ticket reservation (suggested donation: $10) to support the costs of the event and Sierra Madre Playhouse, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that is supported through the generosity of patrons like you.


Off the Shelf

While our short story and poetry offerings are free for you to enjoy, donations to help support production costs are much appreciated! Sierra Madre Playhouse is a non-profit, and we subsist entirely on grants from arts and government organizations, ticket sales, and donations from patrons like you.


Youth Education Programs

Give the gift of live theater to young people! Our innovative youth programs bring high-quality, live theater to schoolchildren, expand arts access for young people in traditionally underserved communities, illuminate career pathways for teens, promote community engagement, and inspire the industry’s future leaders.
Since 2014, our Theater for Young Audiences program has allowed nearly 10,000 students and teachers from 12 different school districts to experience high-quality, live theater, many of them for the very first time. Past productions include A Wrinkle in Time, Charlotte’s Web, and Einstein is a Dummy.
In 2022, we brought 6th grade students to the theater with special performances of Silent Sky in partnership with Pasadena Unified School District as part of their Open Stage program. In collaboration with the Playhouse, district artists-in-residence and classroom teachers will integrate theater with the English Language Arts curriculum and Social Emotional Learning competencies through a sequence of classroom-based lessons and activities.
Our Teen Council program provides monthly opportunities for local students ages 12-17 to meet up with other young theater lovers, participate in workshops with theater professionals, and attend our professional productions, all free of cost. It is our hope that participants will be inspired to continue participation in the arts throughout their lives. 

All in 4 Youth increases arts access for young people of color, disenfranchised youth, and those from low-income families by gifting blocks of tickets to community groups working with secondary students from underserved communities. Participating groups are hosted at a scheduled public performance by a teaching artist, who provides context for the production, answers questions, and generally welcomes the students to the Playhouse.

Help us inspire the next generation of theater lovers! Sponsor a seat for one student ($15), a carpool ($75), a class ($450) or a performance ($1500). Every gift counts and will bring the joy of live theater to more students!

Ask Your Employer
Many companies offer an employee gift match program. Ask your HR Department if they will match your gift to Sierra Madre Playhouse.

Contributions to Sierra Madre Playhouse may be made in cash, appreciated stocks, real estate, life insurance, or other tangible assets. Please contact our Development Chair, Eileen Walker at to discuss your philanthropic intention and possible means of achieving these goals through SMP.
Facebook Fundraiser

Facebook users can now support us! For your birthday or any celebration, consider donating to a nonprofit organization like Sierra Madre Playhouse.

To set up a fundraiser on Facebook to support SMP for whatever occassion:
1. Go to the "Fundraisers" section on Facebook (click "Fundraisers" in the left menu of your News Feed. You may need to click "See More")
2. Click "Raise money for a nonprofit"
3. Search for "Sierra Madre Playhouse" when prompted to select Nonprofit/Charity and select
4. Fill in your fundraiser details, choose a cover photo if you wish, and click "Create!"

This is an annual program, so please renew in September!
Through Ralphs' Community Contributions Program, you can help support the Sierra Madre Playhouse--just shop, swipe your Ralphs Club Card and earn! We'll receive 4% on all monthly purchases, per enrolled card, up to $500.00. This program does not affect your club card discounts.

1. Visit and sign-in or register for a Ralphs’ online account.
2. Click the My Account button and select Account Settings.
3. Scroll to Community Rewards and search for Sierra Madre Playhouse or enter our group number 83942
4. Select us under Organization Name.  Click Save!
