Sierra Madre Playhouse is happy to officially have our doors open again after the Eaton Fire. While we know Sierra Madre (and our greater L.A. community) still has a long road ahead to recover from this tragedy, we look forward to being a source of solace by providing meaningful art and entertainment to our community. Public Displays of Altadena

A Benefit Comedy Show

Tuesday, February 18th @ 8PM

Join us for an unforgettable night of comedy as Sierra Madre Playhouse hosts a star-studded benefit for Public Displays of Altadena (PDA), the beloved micro-theater lost in the Eaton Canyon Fire. Comedy powerhouses Maria Bamford, Melissa Villaseñor, and Whitmer Thomas take the stage, with host Frank Sriracha, for this one-night-only event. All proceeds support PDA’s rebuilding efforts—don’t miss this chance to laugh for a great cause! Tickets $35

Emergency Grants & Resources

Los Angeles County Department Recovery Resources

Los Angeles County’s government departments have compiled a list of resources available to affected residents, including FEMA assistance.

LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund

Administered by the Center for Cultural Innovation, the fund is for the benefit of Los Angeles County’s artists and arts workers in all disciplines impacted by the unprecedented wildfire crisis. Funds are unrestricted and can be used in any way that alleviates financial hardship.

Deadline: February 18, 2025

New York Foundation for the Arts

The Rauschenberg Medical Emergency Grants program provides one-time grants of up to $5,000 for recent unexpected medical, dental, and mental health emergencies to US-based artists in financial need who are creating in the visual arts, film/video/electronic/digital arts, and choreography. A separate emergency grants program is also available for dancers.

Deadline: February 20, 2025

Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant

The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant program is intended to provide interim financial assistance to qualified painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs are the result of an unforeseen, catastrophic incident, and who lack the resources to meet that situation.

Artists’ Fellowship

The Artists’ Fellowship provides one-time emergency aid to professional visual fine artists and their families in times of sickness, natural disaster, bereavement, or unexpected extreme hardship.

Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF+)

CERF+ offers $3,000 Emergency Relief Grants to craft artists who experienced a recent and substantially disruptive emergency or disaster.

Entertainment Community Fund

Emergency Financial Assistance is available to eligible performing arts and entertainment professionals in times of unexpected critical need, to assist towards basic living expenses such as health care, housing and utilities to prevent eviction or shut-offs.

MusiCares

MusiCares provides crisis relief, preventive care, recovery resources, and need-based financial assistance for people across all music professions.

Musicians Foundation

Musicians Foundation provides financial grants to professional musicians that help pay essential bills. Professional musicians in specific periods of need, crisis, and transition can apply.

Arts for LA

Arts for LA has compiled a spreadsheet of resources for artists and arts and culture workers that have been impacted by the LA wildfires. They are asking for local artists and leaders of local cultural institutions to share their experiences so Arts for LA can know the impact this crisis is having on our local arts ecosystem and be a connector to others that can help.

Theatre Commons LA

Theatre Commons LA is looking to quickly gather information to assess the needs of the theater community in this time of crisis. They are asking theater practitioners to respond to a survey so that they have the information ready for those reaching out to them regarding recovery efforts. While the initial deadline has passed, they are still accepting survey submissions.
