About

Born into a world of entertainment in Matanzas, Cuba, Dayren's destiny was clear from the start. With a musician father and actress mother, she embraced a musical path, choosing the violin at the young age of 8.


Her musical journey has led her around the globe, exploring diverse musical styles and captivating audiences with her boundless passion for music. In 2015, she assembled the outstanding ensemble, "Dayren Santamaria & Made in Cuba," featuring top-notch Los Angeles musicians, including Oscar Hernandez, Jimmy Branly, Joey De Leon, and Carlitos Del Puerto. Their performances, both nationally and internationally, have left audiences spellbound.


Dayren currently serves as the Musical Director for the TV show "Noches Con Platanito," where she composes, arranges, plays the violin, and conducts the band. Her remarkable career began with the National Symphony Orchestra of Havana and continued as the concertmaster of the female ensemble Camerata Romeu, taking part in the documentary "Cuba Mia" (My Cuba).


She holds a Master of Music and Performance from the University of South Florida, where she left her mark through recordings and performances with esteemed artists. Since her move to Los Angeles in 2007, Dayren has collaborated extensively with four-time Grammy Award Winner Oscar Hernandez, pushing the boundaries of Latin, Latin-Jazz, and salsa music.


Her performances alongside NEA Jazz Masters Award Honoree Hubert Laws and her work with groups like Jose Rizo's Mongorama and Andy Garcia's CineSon All Stars have solidified her status as a versatile artist. With expertise in classical, jazz, R&B, salsa, and Cuban folkloric music, Dayren's passion shines through in her captivating renditions on both acoustic and electric violin.
