Derrel Maury (Murray Burns) was very young when he joined SAG/AFTRA in 1967. In fact he was so young his first roles were “crawl-on’s”. He was a series regular on Gary Marshal’s “Joanie Loves Chachi” , Norman Lear’s “Apple Pie” & “One Day at A Time”, James Komack’s “The Archie Show” as Jughead & also starred as the teen killer in the cult classic feature “Massacre At Central High” to name just a few of his many TV and film credits. On stage his favorite roles have been R.P. McMurphy in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”, Mr. Applegate in “Damn Yankees”, Cole Porter in “Red Hot & Cole”, Jake in “Jake’s Women”, & Sydney Bruhl in "Deathtrap". But playing Timmy Cleary in a production of “The Subject Was Roses” in which he shared the stage with his mother and father was his greatest thrill. An acting teacher over 30 years, Derrel has taught for Lee Strasberg, Estelle Harman, Tracy Roberts and has worked with many top theatrical agencies in LA. Derrel’s first starring role on stage was as Nick Burns in “A Thousand Clowns” , has also played Leo Herman and is now elated to be playing his favorite role, Murray Burns.
