Catherine DentJuliana Smithton
Catherine Dent is a native of Baton Rouge and graduate of North Carolina School of the Arts. Theater credits include: Uncle Vanya (Broadway), The Street of the Sun (Mark Taper Forum), The Country (La Jolla Playhouse), and The Break of Noon (Geffen).
Ms. Dent made her film debut in Nobody’s Fool opposite Paul Newman, and her television breakthrough role came as Officer Danni Sofer on the Golden Globe-winning hit drama The Shield, for which the Hollywood Report praised her as “powerhouse” and "beguiling."
A versatile performer, Ms. Dent has appeared in numerous critically acclaimed films such as 21 Grams, Someone Like You, Auto Focus, and The Majestic.
She starred in Steven Spielberg’s Taken (Emmy & Golden Globe for Outstanding Miniseries) and has logged in hundreds of hours on TV’s biggest shows, such as The Sopranos, X Files, Frasier, The Mentalist, Fear the Walking Dead, Arrow, NCIS, Law and Order, and most recently, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
In addition to acting, Ms. Dent has produced/directed several short films, and is currently developing, SPUN, a TV series about two ex-junkies turned triathletes trying to hold on to sobriety one mile at a time.
